Premium Damascus VG10 Sandwich Steel Billet Blanks – Heat Treated
For custom knife makers, bladesmiths, and DIY craft enthusiasts, your steel is the foundation of your work. Our Damascus VG10 Sandwich Steel Billet Blanks combine exquisite visual artistry with elite, professional-grade cutting performance.
Constructed using a high-carbon VG10 steel center core “sandwiched” between decorative layers of Damascus steel, these billets provide the best of both worlds: a razor-sharp, durable edge and a breathtaking outer pattern that makes every finished knife a unique work of art.
Why Choose Our Damascus VG10 Billets?
1. Pre-Heat Treated to Perfection (57-59 HRC)
Skip the stress of the heat-treating process. These steel blanks arrive professionally hardened to 57-59 HRC. This means you can focus entirely on designing, profiling, grinding, and finishing your custom blade, knowing the core metallurgy is already optimized for a premium cutting edge.
2. High-Performance VG10 Sandwich Construction
At the heart of each billet is a core of premium VG10 stainless steel. Renowned in the culinary and tactical knife worlds, VG10 provides incredible sharpness, outstanding edge retention, and excellent corrosion resistance. The outer Damascus cladding supports the core, adding lateral strength and unmatched visual character.
3. Choose Your Perfect Artistic Pattern
We offer these blanks in a wide array of striking, high-contrast Damascus patterns to match your design vision:
-
Panicle & Peafowl for flowing, organic aesthetics.
-
Keel & Radial for bold, aggressive lines.
-
Button, Bubble, Circledot, & Diamond for structured, mesmerizing geometric styles.
4. Sized to Suit Your Project
Whether you are forging a compact everyday carry (EDC) pocket knife or a medium-sized hunting/kitchen utility blade, we have the sizes to fit your design:
-
160mm x 30mm x 3mm
-
220mm x 30mm x 3mm
Important Note for Makers & Etching Instructions
During grinding and shaping, the surface pattern of the Damascus steel will temporarily fade or disappear due to friction and heat. This is completely normal. Once your blade is fully ground and polished, simply dip it in a pickling agent (such as Ferric Chloride) to acid-etch the steel. The acid will react differently with the layered steels, bringing the beautiful, contrasting pattern back out perfectly.
